Who We Are...

Pittsburgh Metro—

Chapter 081-- a local branch of the national APWU (American Postal Worker's Union)-- is a labor organization 2,500 members strong, headquartered inside the Pittsburgh city limits, approximately three blocks from the Pittsburgh General Mail Facility on the north side of town.

We are lucky to call our headquarters our home, literally, because in 1996, we became the owners of the building at 1414 Brighton Road, The Epicenter.

Pittsburgh Metro represents three different crafts of USPS employees:

Our members can be found at:

The General Mail Facility in Pittsburgh -- GMF
The Bulk Mail Facility at Warrendale -- BMF
The Logistics and Distribution Center at Warrendale -- L&DC
The Air Mail Facility at Pittsburgh Int'l Airport -- AMF
The Remote Encoding Center in Turtle Creek -- REC
The Vehicle Maintenance Facility in Pittsburgh
54 City Stations and Branches-- S&B's
96 Associates Offices-- AO's

Check over our list of offices, and if you find your office missing from the list, email the webmaster (link on the Contact Us page) to get it included.

We have three full-time officers, approximately 99 stewards to represent our members, 10 Chief Grievance Officers to oversee the stewards, 10 nationally certified Arbitration Advocates to handle cases, a Craft Director for each craft we represent, a Recording Secretary and four Trustees.

Each year in the early summer we gather to celebrate our Solidarity at a picnic with friends, co-workers and family members. Again in the fall, we gather to celebrate the working person's holiday by participating in Pittsburgh's Labor Day Parade activities, followed by a luncheon and sometimes, a ballgame.

In case you're interested, we try to maintain lists of new union members and of our retirees, as well.
