The Retiree Corner

The Pittsburgh Area Retiree Chapter of the American Postal Workers Union, AFL-CIO, was founded in late 2006. Their Charter was issued in March, 2007. Retired Pittsburgh Metro Area Local President John P. Richards was named as the first President, and retired Executive Vice President Joe Anthony was named as the first Vice President-Treasurer.

While operating under the 'umbrella' of the Pittsburgh Metro Area Local, the Retiree Chapter functions independently. Its primary goal is to enhance and put forward the interests and concerns of Retirees.

These activities are accomplished by supporting and influencing efforts for Retiree interests within the APWU, including the COPA Campaign, and involvement in local political activity by supporting candidates who share our goals and beliefs.

Last but not least ...! The Retiree Chapter is not "all work and no play." The Chapter is developing a full scale social activities program that is based on member input. In addition, the PMAPWU Local has a policy of inviting Retirees to their social functions, such as the Labor Day Parade and the social event that follows. This provides Retirees opportunities to be involved in support of the Local's activities and renew acquaintances with old friends and colleagues.
