2010 Pittsburgh Labor Day Parade
Monday, September 6, 2010 at 10:00 AM,
One of the largest Labor Day Parades in the US!
This year the PMAPWU contingent is again marching very near the front of the parade. We will gather behind Mellon Arena and line up on Mario Lemieux Place, which is right behind the arena. Bring your friends and family, all are welcome.
Due to our early departure, please try to be at our meeting place no later than 9:00 AM so we can be ready to move right out!
Labor Day Mass will be at St. Benedict the Moor Church at 8:00 AM.
This mass is a traditional favorite on Labor Day...
PMAPWU hats, visors, tee shirts, and refreshments will be available at 8:15 AM at our meeting place behind the arena.
Rain or Shine, after the parade we'll head over Red Lot 7A near the Clark Building and beneath the Ft. Duquesne Bridge ramp. We will have catered tailgate picnic food and ice cold refreshments. All marchers in attendance at this point will receive tickets for the 1:35 PM Pirates vs. Atlanta Braves game.
Remember to bring your own chairs to the tailgate picnic!
There is limited free parking here... when Lot 7A fills up, there are no more free spaces.

South Park Fairgrounds
The Picnic will be at South Park at the Agricultural Hall, Museum Bldg., and the Cabin area near the old Fairgrounds. Other activities at the Park include the Wave Pool, Game Preserve, BMX Track, Walking, Hiking, & Bike Trails, Tennis Courts, and on Sundays there is usually a Car Cruise.
Activities for the adults and children includes a 32 foot Rock Climbing Wall, Trackless Train, Jumbo Bouncer, Tug of War, Moon Bounce, Criss-Cross Collision Course, High Stryker, Water Balloon Toss, Face Painting & Temporary Tattoos, BINGO, Spin Art, etc.
Bring your softball and other outdoor sports gear as ball fields will be available. Also bring folding chairs to enjoy the sunshine and fresh air.
Enjoy our new all-you-can-eat picnic menu which will be a Roasted Pig Roast with 3 BBQ Sauces, Slow Smoked Chicken, Kielbasa & Kraut, All Beef Hot Dogs, Potato Salad, Cole Slaw, Baked Beans, Peach Iced Tea and Cold Lemonade. Also during the picnic popcorn, snow-cones, soft drinks, and coffee will be available. Beer and specialty drinks will only be served between 12:00 and 6:00 p.m.
The Picnic is open to all members and retirees in good standing of PMAPWU and invited guests. As a member, you and your spouse or significant other, your children and/or legal dependent(s) as defined by the IRS may attend at no cost. You may invite up to two guests at the cost of $15.00 per guest.
50-50 drawings will be held and a members only Grand Prize drawing will be held at 5:00 pm.
